Daisy / Josiah Nelson

You can never stand
too long before the stars
in June. You could spend forever
moon-lingering, the wheaten
air on your lips. I think
of the white and yolk
daisy by my bedroom
window always bending
toward the sun.
I am trying to be like that
with the sky and also my life.

Josiah Nelson is an MFA in Writing student and sessional lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan. His poetry has appeared in Spry Literary Journal, U.S. Catholic Magazine, Vast Chasm Magazine, Blank Spaces, and Pinhole Poetry. He lives in Saskatoon.
