Snow Light / Keith Taylor

SNOW LIGHT

Of course you can see it out of town
on an unpaved county road, but it’s
obvious on Detroit side streets, too:

for a few minutes after sunset
on the first clear day after the first
significant winter storm when ice
crackles under foot or under tires,
and in that moment your whole world glows.

Keith Taylor’s most recent full-length collection is The Bird-while (Wayne State University Press, 2017). After many years of teaching in the writing programs at the University of Michigan, he was able to quit a few years ago.
